About
If you’re looking for a massage practitioner who combines professional knowledge and experience, a deep understanding of what it means to be an athlete, with a compassionate and warm touch, then you’ve found your perfect match.
Laurie brings a unique blend of personal and professional experience to her massage practice. For most of her adult life Laurie has been an avid outdoor athlete, pursuing sports such as rock & ice climbing, backcountry & alpine skiing, ultra running, and mountain bike racing.
Laurie’s past involves working as a FireFighter/EMT/IV for Cherryvale Fire Department, a Climbing Ranger at Rocky Mountain National Park, and other areas of service that include a medical background while embodying a personal life full of active/alpine/family adventures.
Finally, with nearly a lifetime of customer service as a server, Laurie rounds out her professional qualifications with an uncanny knack for connecting with just about anyone.
As you can see, Laurie has never shied away from physically and psychologically demanding activities. Over the years she’s sustained numerous injuries giving her an intimate perspective on the relationship between physical injury, performance, and whole body health. Such first hand knowledge helps Laurie relieve your discomfort and speed healing with empathy and kindness.
As a long-time meditation practitioner, Laurie tracks the subtle details of what is happening moment-to-moment with the client; she is able to respond and adjust her work to address what the client’s body needs in that moment.
Through additional course work, as well as one-on-one mentorship, in both Myofascial Release and Neuromuscular Therapy, with Mark Barnes and Judith DeLany, and Todd Ackerman CNMT, Laurie continues to expand upon her foundation of massage skills which were first developed in school.
Laurie is passionate about helping you recover from athletic, work, or life related injuries. Through applying deep tissue techniques, Laurie gets you back to living life to the fullest. She is a practicing Buddhist after all.
Personal: If there are two things you should know about Laurie, it would be these: she is deeply devoted to her family and she is an alpine junkie. Whenever she’s not spending time camping, mountain biking, climbing, or skiing with her son and husband, Laurie can be found climbing and running high up in the mountains where she feels most at home. Laurie lives in Crested Butte with her family.
